At noon on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2021, at the Oak Hill Cemetary, the Owosso Rotary Club and others will be recognizing the life and service of a long-forgotten Civil War veteran. Alexander Johnson was born a sale in Tennessee and served in a Michigan regiment in 1865. He lived in Owosso from 1870 until his death in 1907 and was a barber and popular community resident.

We are proudly assisting at a Mobile Food Pantry hosted by the Shiawassee Family YMCA, on November 30 for Giving Tuesday. Registration begins at 2:00 PM and food distribution begins at 3:00. Distribution will be held at the Shiawassee Family YMCA, 515 W. Main St., Owosso, MI 48867 Volunteers are still needed, email our President Barbara BakerOmerod (bbo@attybbo.com) to sign up to help! The last mobile food pantry for the year is on December 21st. Stay tuned for mobile food panty dates into 2022.

The annual 300 Club Sports Party & Raffle was held at D'Mar Banquet Center on Saturday November 5, 2018. Once again the evening was a resounding success. Through the combined efforts of the Owosso and Corunna Rotary Clubs, we were able to raise over $9000 each for the Owosso Sports Boosters and the Corunna Athletic Club. A special thanks to all the volunteers from both organizations who put all the effort into making this such a successful event. We look forward to the event next year!

The Eleventh Annual Foundation Gala will be held on Friday, November 17 at Zehnder’s in Frankenmuth. Social hour begins at 5:30 and dinner will be served at 6:30. Our speaker is Ed Futa, former General Secretary of The Rotary Foundation. We will recognize clubs for their outstanding contributions last Rotary year, along with members of the Paul Harris Society, Major Donors and members of the Bequest Society.
